Potential Uses of St. Paul’s

Key Findings

  • Over the years, potential uses of the building have been identified, categorized, and evaluated for all historic & currently permitted uses and their impact on the Village.
  • The St. Paul’s Alliance welcomes residents to give their input on potential uses via email communications and small group meetings, as may be announced by The Alliance.
  • In 2001, the New York Supreme Court for Nassau County ruled that Garden City could not lease the St. Paul’s school and ancillary buildings for commercial real estate development without enabling legislation from Albany. At that time Garden City had designated the St. Paul’s property for public and municipal uses.
  • In 2004, the Garden City Board of Trustees declared the St. Paul’s property “parkland” and that new designation further limited the uses to which the property could be used without enabling legislation from Albany.
